When will I receive my property tax
bill?
According to Minnesota law, the county is required
to mail property tax statements no later than
March 31.
When are my property tax payments due?
Payments are considered timely if they are received
on or before the due date, or if they are postmarked
with a U.S. Postal Service postmark, on or before
the due date.
What if I miss the deadline
for my tax payment?
If the due date for your second half property
tax payment is November 15 and your property
is classified as agricultural homestead
property, the penalty rates for
the late payment are 6% if you pay from November
16 through November 30; 8% if you pay from December
1 through January 1; and 10% if you pay on January
2 or later. If
the due date for your second half property
tax payment is November 15 and your property
is classified as agricultural
non-homestead property, the
penalty rates for late payment are: 8% if
you pay from November 16 through November
30, 12% if you pay from December 1 through
January 1; and 14% if you pay on January 2
or later.
Where do I pay
the balance of the outstanding special assessments
and whom should I contact concerning my special
assessments?
Your city or township is generally responsible
for initiating assessments. To determine the
balance on an assessment, you must contact
the responsible taxing entity.
Can I pay my property taxes using a
credit card?
Yes. You can pay with credit card or e-check.

Will I be charged
for reviewing information about my property?
No. There is no charge for reviewing tax information
about an individual property.
What type of online
information is available about my property?
General property information as well as e911
address, plat name, legal description, taxpayer
data, valuation data and tax roll data are all
available by using our online property tax information
system.

Is a map of my property
available on line?
Possibly. The Otter Tail County has placed a
large number of property maps online which
are tied to the tax data. We are continuously
adding more. You can see if your property has
a map by checking the property
tax information system or going directly to
the interactive map. Both are available
by clicking on the "Property Taxes"
button on the top menu of any page on our site.
Can other people
view my property information?
Like all public records, property tax information
is available to any individual or company that
wishes to review it. |
