Basic
Sliding Fee Child Care Assistance:
Basic Sliding Fee childcare provides a childcare
subsidy for low income working families.
With prior approval, education may also
be supported. Two staff process applications,
determine eligibility, and completes contracts
for individuals who are eligible for child
care funding.
Minnesota
Family Investment Program (MFIP) childcare
also provides subsidies to help welfare
recipients return to work and retain their
jobs. Transition Year childcare provides
one year of subsidy for welfare recipients
who have left the MFIP program due to increased
earnings.
There
are 164 working families receiving Basic
Sliding Fee ChildCare Assistance, 13 families
receiving At Home Infant Care Assistance,
and 28 students receiving Basic Sliding
Fee Child Care. In the last quarter of 2000,
76 families were place on a waiting list.
